Great Lakes Aquarium

About The Great lakes aquarium

The Great Lakes Aquarium is a family-friendly aquarium located along the Duluth Harbor in Canal Park. Get up close and personal with marine life and other animals. The mission of the Aquarium is to “connect all people to the water and wildlife of Lake Superior and Beyond”.

Opened in 2000, the Aquarium is home to over 1300 species of marine life and other animals that play a roll in local and national ecology. At the Aquarium you can get up close and even touch sturgeons, jellyfish, sea anemones, and more!

Throw a birthday party, host a wedding, or just come on by for a visit during their regular business hours. The Aquarium is a wonderful place to learn more about the fish that call the Great Lakes Basin home, as well as some saltwater species. You can also see some land animals that play a big role in the local ecology. Visit with a pair of playful otters names Agate and Ore in Otter Cove. Visit with Bogey the bald and Horus the turkey vulture at Raptor Ridge. There’s even a resident skunk! And then when you’re done, swing by the gift shop to take home a souvenir to remember your trip.

There is a variety of educational experiences for kids and the whole family. These include summer camps, nature play programs, and experiences for kids of all ages. The Great Lakes Aquarium also offers unique overnight experiences.
